Promote institutional changes and support impactful science communication.
COALESCE Work Package 5 (WP5) is “COALESCE Impact pathways and sustainability”.
We are working to promote institutional changes and further support impactful scicomm practices throughout Europe in the mainstream and to fulfil the impact pathways of the Competence Centre. Specific objectives are:
- To promote institutional changes that support the embedding of scicomm in higher education and the ERA.
- To provide policy recommendations to guarantee the fulfilment of the impact pathways in the medium term.
- To evaluate the performance and impact of the Competence Centre for scicomm’s activities.
- To co-create a business plan for the long-term exploitation and sustainability of the Competence Centre.
- To develop a roadmap for establishing permanent and self-sustained National and Regional Hubs.

Main results and achievements
- Building high level connections and contributing to policy events and policy recommendations in scicomm
- Establishing contact and forging relationships with a variety of societal actors, specifically in research institutions and policy, including University Alliances. Engaging in knowledge consolidation activities to form an evidence base for all tasks
- Support mutual learning, sustainability and policy actions with the network of National and Regional Hubs
- Support the recognition and professionalisation of science communication at the national and European levels
