There’s a new feature on the European Competence Centre for Science Communication platform: a science communication Events Agenda. Here you’ll find relevant conferences and other events occurring across Europe and beyond that are of interest to our community. In addition, training offered by the Competence Centre will also be included. The Competence Centre events agenda will be a one-stop place for science communication practitioners and researchers to find out about events they would like to be part of or attend.

“Our team will be curating all you wished for – a tailored SciComm calendar for science communication-related events happening all over Europe and beyond. Whether these are conferences, policy events or others, here is where you will be able to find them. You can also stay tuned with our regular training program and register from there. In the future, we will also be incorporating Prizes’ announcements,” says Joana Magalhães, co-coordinator of COALESCE and Science Communication Area Manager at Science for Change in Barcelona.

How to use the Events tool step-by-step:

  • Find the Events page in your upper banner menu or use the sandwich menu on the upper-right corner.
  • Select your view (on the right side of the screen):
    • Monthly view – you can scroll down to see all the events organised per month;
    • Agenda view – you will find events per date, starting with what’s coming next;
    • search directly for what you are looking for.
  • You can search events by:
    • modality: whether it is online, in-person, or hybrid;
    • country;
    • topic, such as Journalism and Media, Art & Science, Citizen Science, Crisis Communication;
    • type of event: training, conference, and prizes;
    • date range.

If you would like to suggest an event to be included in the Competence Centre events page, please contact us here. We will do our best to publish the event you provide us with information about. Please send us details of events aimed at science communication practitioners – which may include science centre and museum staff, scientists involved with public engagement, artists who produce science-related material, science journalists, science communication researchers or anyone communicating science.

  • Title of the event
  • Link to the event website/webpage
  • Event type, modality and language
  • Event topic – such as Journalism and Media; Exhibitions in Museums & Science Centres; Science Education & Informal Learning; Citizen Science; Public and Stakeholder engagement, co-creation & participation; Gender, Equity, Inclusion & Diversity; Evaluation; Ethics, Trust or Misinformation; and others you can find on the dropdown menu in the Events page
